OAK HILL -
Habitat for Humanity is celebrating 25 years serving the Mountain
State with a push to build 25 new
homes throughout the state in 2012.
New River Habitat for Humanity is partnering with Adventures
on the Gorge for a special "raft and build" house in September, but they're
still looking for a family who needs a home and is willing to help work on the
building's construction.
Applicants who qualify and put at least 250 hours of work
into construction will then have the chance to buy the home at a 20 year,
zero-percent mortgage.
"They're going to go in and start working on the home in September,"
said Lisa Gregory, Executive Director of New River Habitat for Humanity. "They have
volunteered their services, to put it from sub-floor to under roof in the month
of September. So we have volunteers starting in September, we just need a
family to go with them."
To be considered for assistance from Habitat for Humanity,
an individual must currently live in "inadequate, sub-standard" conditions.
For more information about applying, or how to volunteer
with Habitat, call (304) 254-9888.
