Representatives with the Raleigh County Assessor's Office were out and about Tuesday helping area residents.

They made two stops in the county to provide one-on-one time with residents.

Anyone that stopped by Coal Marsh Missionary Baptist Church in Glen Daniel or the Ghent Volunteer Fire Department received help filling out assessment forms and purchasing dog tags.

Representatives were also signing eligible residents up for Homestead-Disability exemptions.

"With gasoline, a lot of them, it's a long ways for them to come," explained Raleigh County Assessor Drema Evans, "so we're real pleased to be able to help the people and we've had a wonderful response."

Evans said one of the topics they were covering was the new fire levy rate.

If you are a resident, she said it's important to remember when you get your tax ticket this year, it will be somewhat higher.

Again, Tuesday's services were provided by the Assessor's Office of Raleigh County.
