2 Virginias Honored for Protecting Vets' Voting Rights

CHARLESTON (AP) -

Virginia and West Virginia are being recognized for their efforts to protect and promote veterans' voting rights.

They are among 15 states named as All-Star states by the nonpartisan Military Voter Protection Project.

Project officials announced the awards Tuesday in a news release.

Factors analyzed by the project included legislative efforts to eliminate barriers to military voter participation and to work with military installations and National Guard units to assist military members on-base.
