Stem cells extracted during liposuction could be used to help millions of people with heart disease.

Researchers at the University of Oklahoma said they used stem cells to grow small blood vessels in a lab.

The goal is to use the vessels in heart bypass surgery and other procedures, reducing the risk of rejection.

Testing on animals is expected to happen within months.
