Bluefield Bests Princeton in Mercer Cup Contest

The first team to win six games in the Mercer Cup rivalry wins the season series. Bluefield entered tonight's contest leading the series three game to two.

The Blue Jays increased their lead with a 9-2 win.

For Bluefield, Matt Dean hit a home run and drove in three runs and Dennis Jones drove in two runs in the victory. On the mound, Kevin Comer improves to 3-1 after giving up just one earned run in five innings of work.

Ariel Soriano and Dan Duran drove in the lone runs for the Rays. Princeton used five pitchers during the course of the game.

The Jays improve to 15-17, while Princeton drops to 17-18. The two will continue its series on Friday at Hunnicut Field at 7:05 p.m.
