BECKELY -
Right after the Colorado shootings happened, people all over the country reported feeling nervous about heading to the movies for fear of copy cats.
59News told you our local theatres had security on hand to keep movie-goers safe. But We were wondering this afternoon, if there was still some lingering concern about seeing a movie.
A week after the deadly Colorado movie theater shooting, Batman fans dressed in their favorite comic book t-shirt, are still headed to the theaters.
"I don't think we should allow this to impact how we think about where we go and what we enjoy," Michael Dorsey of Beckley said.
An avid movie go-er, Dorsey is calling the Colorado shooting a terrible tragedy but feels as though it is an isolated incident.
And mother of one, Erin Bowman agrees. Bowman said she is taking her son to catch a flick and will not let the shooting prevent her from spending quality time with her boy. But she did continue that she will be taking an extra look around the venue.
"You watch where you sit, you watch what's around you and pay attention to your environment," Erin Bowman of Beckley said.
Managers at the Marquee Cinemas said they have not seen a decrease in ticket sales and folks who are coming out to the movies said the Colorado shooting is simply and isolated incident.
Due to the Colorado tragedy Marquee's Cinemas corporate office would not let 59 News film inside of the theater. And even though folks in the Mountain State are continuing to go to the movies, they said their hearts go out to the people of Aurora Colorado.
"I've done a lot of crying over this. I just think it is sad and the more you watch the harder it got," Debbie Goddard of Beckley said.
