Combining Breast Cancer Medicines Could Increase Survival

Posted: Updated:

A new study could change the standard of treatment for women with advanced breast cancer.

Researchers found combining two drugs, instead of giving them separately, increases the life span of patients.

The study in the New England Journal of Medicine said women who took Anastrozole and fulvestrant at the same time lived more than six months longer.

Researchers said their findings are the first to show that combination hormonal therapy alone, without chemotherapy, increases survival in advanced cases.
