More Moms are Breastfeeding in the U.S.

Posted: Updated:

A report card from the CDC says 77 percent of moms started breastfeeding in 2009.

That's up 2 percent from the previous year, and the largest one-year jump in ten years.

Researchers said so-called baby-friendly hospitals have helped drive the increase in breastfeeding, which studies show cuts an infant's risk of infection, allergies, diabetes and obesity.

West Virginia ranks low on the report card, you can get a look at the details at the CDC web site.
