KINGWOOD, W.Va. (AP) -
A body found in the Cheat River has been identified as that of a missing West Virginia teenager.
The West Virginia medical examiner's office says it's 17-year-old Gatlin Jones of Clintonville. He's went missing July 18, when he walked away from the National Guard ChalleNGe Academy at Camp Dawson in Kingwood.
That was two days after his class of cadets started.
Major Gen. James Hoyer tells WSAZ-TV the guard is committed to doing all it can to ensure the health and well-being of the cadets.
The Academy helps at-risk youth develop coping and job skills so they can succeed in life. It teaches values including health and hygiene, citizenship, education, community service and leadership.
Cadets live at Camp Dawson for five months and are mentored in a one-year follow-up program.
