It's based on Homer Hickam's memoir about growing up in a small mining town in McDowell County, and how his passion for outer space led him to become a NASA engineer.
Actors shed some light on the project, and say it gives people hope in the area.
"Because of the dreams that Homer Hickman had," explained Actor J. Andrew Peters, "to not just grow up and experience the world beyond the borders of his small coal town, but to really experience the world at a level that nobody in his hometown had ever done before."
