The race for the second district seat on the Raleigh County Commission may be unopposed in November.
Former Democratic candidate John Wooten tells 59News that he dropped out of the race on Friday.
Wooten says that his reason for dropping out was an interpretation of the state's rules for lawyers.
The determination was that his role as a criminal lawyer would be in conflict with his role of setting the Prosecuting Attorney's budget.
Wooten disagreed with the interpretation.
However, he says rather than fight over the decision he opted to drop out of the race.
