WVU Foundation reports record $173.9M in donations

MORGANTOWN, W.Va. (AP) -

West Virginia University has recorded another year of record-breaking donations.

Cash and in-kind donations to the WVU Foundation totaled $173.9 million for the fiscal year that ended June 30. The old record was $96.3 million set during the previous fiscal year.

The university says in a news release that the gifts include an in-kind software donation from Siemens PLM Software valued at $71.2 million. But donations would have set a record without Siemens' gift.

The Mountaineer Athletic Club, The University Fund and WVU Health Sciences Development also broke donation records.

WVU Foundation president and CEO Wayne King says two straight years of record donations show university supporters are excited about its direction and leadership.
