University of Charleston is working with Mountain State University advisors and students on the schools teach-out program, and to assist students who might want to either attend UC or transfer out.
Dr. Letha Zook is the Dean of Faculty of UC and she has been helping students make their transitions the last few days. Zook said it doesn't seem like the students are unwilling to be on the Beckley campus after dealing with the hardships the last few months. "I haven't heard anyone say that they are upset to the point they are not going to come and try this out. I think its been very positive."
For Michael McClaugherty who was at the teach-out on Wednesday he is positive for the Beckley campus after stepping on to UC's campus in Charleston. "From the moment that I stepped on UC's campus in Charleston I felt like they were there for us, that they wanted to help us. I didn't get the feeling it was the other way around.
McClaugherty admits what the uncertainty can be scary, "It's been challenging to since day 1 so to be honest I wouldn't have it any other way... I'm going to keep working. "
UC officials are still figuring out what kind of programs will be offered through UC at Beckley come January 1st. "We are very interested in the stenography program some of the health sciences that would include radiology. Looking at criminal justice and also working on more online work because MSU has been very positive in doing that and I have the infrastructure in doing and those are the things we are looking to continue," said Zook.
University of Charleston will be at Martinsburg on Thursday to talk with students up there.
