PINEVILLE -

The Pineville Municipal Water Works issued a boil water advisory on Sunday, Aug. 12 for the area from the top of Jackson Hill to the top of Jesse Mountain.

There was a break in the main water line near Hair Essential in Rockview on Route 10 North.  Repairs were made but conditions show the water is probably contaminated.  No tests have been done to confirm that though.

Officials with the Pineville Municipal Water Works say it could take a week before the water is safe for use.  Until that time, residents are advised to bring any water used for drinking, cooking or hygienic reasons to a full rolling boil for at least one minute.  The water should be allowed to cool before use.

Guidelines on how to reduce health risks are available from the EPA Safe Drinking Water Hotline at 1-800-428-4791.
