UPDATE: Escaped Work Release Inmate In Custody

UPDATE: Officials with he West Virginia State Police say that Michael Sampson was captured Friday afternoon in the Cabell Heights area in Beckley.

 

ORIGINAL STORY:

BECKLEY - West Virginia State Police are looking for Michael Sampson.

Sampson escaped from the Beckley Correction Center around 4 p.m. August 16 while on work release. Sampson is 5' 9" tall, with brown hair and blue eyes. He has multiple tattoos on both hands and forearms,  including three dots on the top of his right hand and "Mike" on his right forearm. Sampson also has a birthmark on the center of his back.  

Sampson was originally convicted of burglary in Harrison County.

He was last seen at the McDonald's in the Beckley Plaza on Eisenhower Drive.
