Parents looking for child care need to do their homework before dropping off their students.

Experts say parents should know who is watching their children.

Getting to know the babysitter includes checking references and talking with former clients.

They say one of the biggest indicators of a problem is a change in a child's behavior.

The most important thing parents should do is talk to their children.

"If something happens, they need to tell somebody," Scott Miller, executive director of Just For Kids, Inc., said. "Even if somebody says you shouldn't say something."

Experts say parents need to listen their children, and make sure the kids know who they can trust to tell if something is wrong.

For extra piece of mind, stop by the babysitter's unannounced and have neighbors check in.

And if you think there is a problem, don't be afraid to report it.
