Programs aiding female crime victims get grant

CHARLESTON, W.Va. (AP) -

West Virginia programs that assist female victims of violence will receive a $1.9 million federal grant.

U.S. Sens. Jay Rockefeller and Joe Manchin and Congressman Nick Rahall announced the funding Monday from a federal program administered by the Department of Justice's Office on Violence Against Women.

The program promotes improving the criminal justice system's response to violent crimes against women, along with coordinated handling of advocacy and services in such cases.
