CHARLESTON, W.Va. (AP) -
Appalachian Power crews from Virginia, West Virginia and Tennessee are traveling to Louisiana ahead of Isaac.
The power company says about 200 of its employees and contract workers are heading to the Gulf State as Isaac takes dead aim at New Orleans seven years after Hurricane Katrina.
The workers left Florida over the weekend, but were redirected as the storm's track moved west. The workers include linemen and tree crews.
Isaac's impact could go well beyond New Orleans. The storm's winds could be felt more than 200 miles from the storm's center.
Appalachian Power's Phil Wright said crews from 22 states pitched in when a fierce wind storm in late June battered West Virginia and Virginia. He says now it's Appalachian's turn to lend a hand.
