The identity has been released of those involved in Tuesday night's deadly shooting in Clay County.

West Virginia State Police said Luke Baber, 20, of Oak Hill, shot and killed a West Virginia State Trooper and wounded several others throughout the night.

Around 7:30 p.m. Tuesday, two state troopers pulled over Luke Baber, who had been driving recklessly on the Interstate at the "Wallback Park and Ride."

That's off of Interstate 79.

He was apparently in a stolen truck from Oak Hill.

When troopers placed Baber in the back of a police cruiser, he managed to shoot them with a gun he had on him, believed to be hidden in his groin area when he was arrested. Those shots wounded Trooper Eric Michael Workman and killed Cpl. Marshall Lee Bailey.

William Massey, a tow truck driver was also shot in the arm before Baber fled the scene, but he was able to escape and call for help within minutes.

Next, nearby Roane County Sheriff's Deputy John Westfall was shot three times, but he was able to track the vehicle down at a barn.

Sheriff's deputies from Roane and Clay counties cornered Baber in the woods and were able to return fire, killing him.

The injured are being treated at Charleston hospitals.

During a press conference, West Virginia State Police Colonel Jay Smithers directed attention to the hallway of honor.

"In it hangs the portraits and medals of valor for 38 previously fallen West Virginia State troopers who made the ultimate sacrifice while serving and protecting the citizens of West Virginia," Colonel Smithers said. "Today, we are faced with the harsh reality of adding another portrait and medal of valor."

The Governor's Office and the West Virginia State Police will continue to provide information as it becomes available.
