Breeder's Choice Pet Foods is recalling on of their brands of dog food because it could be contaminated with salmonella.

The AvoDerm Natural Lamb Meal & Brown Rice Adult Dog Formula is the brand being recalled.  The affected products were distributed in Virginia, California, Georgia, Illinois, Nevada and Washington.  Pet Owners should look for the "Best Before" dates of Aug. 28, 2013 through Aug. 30, 2013.

The company advises people to get rid of the contaminated product immediately and stop handling it, as it poses a risk to humans as well as pets.  Symptoms of salmonella in dogs include, nausea, vomiting, diarrhea, lethargy, fever and abdominal discomfort.
