3 W.Va. Groups Get Drug Abuse Grants

CHARLESTON (AP) -

Three West Virginia community coalitions are receiving federal grants to reduce youth drug abuse.

Community Connections Inc. received $125,000 for the Creating Opportunities for Youth Coalition in Bluefield.

Another $125,000 went to the Strong through our Plan Coalition in Gilbert.

The United Way of the River Cities Inc. also received $125,000 for the Cabell County Substance Abuse Prevention Partnership in Huntington.

U.S. Senators Jay Rockefeller and Joe Manchin and Rep. Nick Rahall announced the grants Thursday.

The funding comes from a program administered by the Office of National Drug Control Policy.
