Emergency responders were called to the scene of a train accident on Monday, May 20. A person was apparently hit by a CSX train in a remote part of Fayette County. The call came in at around 1:30 p.m.
The victim was apparently covering her head with a blanket to shelter from the heavy rain storms.
OAK HILL -
An investigation into a hit and run accident out of Fayette County on Tuesday, Sept. 11 leads to an arrest.
Sheriff's deputies arrested Ruth Ann Owens of Minden on Thursday, Sept. 13 on charges of Unlawful Taking of a Vehicle, Driving with a Suspended Operator's License and Leaving the scene of an Accident with personal injury.
The incident happened at around 11:30 p.m. on Tuesday, Sept. 11. Deputies said that Owens hit Larry Gill with his own truck on Upper Summerlee Loop Road near Oak Hill. Gill was taken to Charleston Area Medical Center where he was reportedly in critical buy stable condition. Owens apparently took Gill's truck which was later found in Minden.
Owens is also known as Ruth Ann Fleshman. She was arraigned in magistrate court and released on a $5,000 bond.
The incident is still under investigation by the Fayette County Sheriff's Office.
