Police are closing in on a suspect after a string of robberies across Raleigh County, detectives with the Raleigh County Sheriff's Department said Friday.
According to Det. James Williams, it all started with a robbery at the Country Inn & Suites on May 13.
The same day, Williams said the Dollar General in Harper Heights was also robbed. He believes the two robberies may be connected to five others that happened in Raleigh County since May:
-The Dollar General in Harper Heights on June 11.
-The Dollar General in Glen Daniels on August 12.
-The Little General in Bradley on August 18.
-The Family Dollar in Glen Daniel on September 1.
-The Dollar General in Glen Daniel on September 9.
In the majority of the cases, Williams said the suspect used a crowbar or tire iron to rob the store.
Although he hasn't had enough concrete evidence yet to make an arrest, he said detectives are closing in on a suspect believed to be connected to at least one of the robberies.
"We have developed a suspect, in my opinion, based on the evidence, but we also have reason to believe there's a lot more people who have information," said Wililams.
Williams describes the suspect as a white man, standing 5'8 inches tall, with light blue eyes.
He is asking anyone with information on the robberies to contact the Raleigh County Sheriff's Department or Crimestoppers at 255-STOP.
