As part of huge community service project, hundreds of boy scouts will be in our area doing projects to improve the region through The Reaching the Summit Community Service Initiative.

Monday, September 17th crews will be in Mercer, Fayette, and Greenbrier counties to lend a helping hand.

All week long crews will be holding a dress rehearsal through the counties for the 2013 National Scout Jamboree Days of Service.

Those helping in Mercer County will work to enhance the Bluefield City Park. The project includes repainting basketball courts, maintenance volleyball courts, and beautification throughout the park area.

The Fayette County Project will support Wetlands Restoration of the Wolf Creek Industrial Park in Fayetteville. Volunteers will be meeting at 8 a.m. to being gravel work. In addition volunteers will also be establishing an aviary sanctuary.

In Greenbrier County volunteers will be developing the Lewisburg Green Park in downtown to landscape and beautify the surrounding areas.

Crews were in Monroe County helping to volunteer on clean up efforts.
