WVSP Stepping Up DUI Patrols

Posted: Updated:

West Virginia State troopers are stepping up DUI patrols this weekend in Raleigh County.

On Friday, Sept. 21, they'll be conducting a sobriety checkpoint along U.S. Route 19 in the Beaver area.

The checkpoint will run from 9 p.m. Friday until 3 a.m. Saturday.

The purpose of the sobriety checkpoint is to deter impaired driving and educate the motoring public about the dangers and consequences of operating a vehicle while under the influence of alcohol and drugs.

The public is encouraged to assist law enforcement by reporting intoxicated or drug-impaired drivers.
