Police work is hard and it isn't everyday where when a case falls into an officer's lap, but on Monday an anonymous citizen walked into the department and handed over two USB drives to the department full with porn including photos depicting children according to police.
Benedict Vavrecka II was arrested and charged with five counts of child pornography after being linked to the USB drives which had more than 40 thousand photos of porn.
According to Detective Jeff Shumate, Vavrecka was homeless and using his wireless computer to upload child pornography all throughout Beckley with the help of the Internet.
"He would go to various stores that had WIFI and there he would download those pictures and charge his computer to view those when he went back to his tent," said Detective Shumate.
Detective Shumate said Vavrecka was living in a tent throughout the Beckley area.
More charges are expected to follow against Vavrecka.
Those photos found, ranged from infants, to toddlers to adults. Vavrecka is also a charged in Arizona with similar crimes. He is in the Southern Regional Jail.
The child pornography photos will be handed over to the missing and exploiting children's database in Virginia to gather the identities of some of the children who are being abused in the pictures according to Shumate.
