BECKLEY, W.Va. (AP) -

New River Community and Technical College has received a $3 million federal grant to expand its nursing and allied health care program.

The Register-Herald reports that the grant will enable the Beckley college to offer new associate's degrees for registered nurse, medical laboratory technician, physical therapist assistant, occupational therapist assistant and EMS/paramedic certifications.

New River President Ted Spring says the grant will significantly enhance the college's ability to offer quality health training programs in the region.
