RAINELLE -

Promoting community involvement was the focus of a health and safety fair in Greenbrier County this afternoon.

Emergency service responders invited the public for an up close look at what it takes to respond to an emergency.

People took a ride on a fire engine, got a chance to put their fire fighting skills to the test, behind the hose and could check out the cock pit of medical helicopter.

Organizers said it is important EMS workers get familiar with those in the community.

"It is important because a lot of people the only time they see us is an accident scene or when something has happened and its a bad situation. we want them to know who we are and what we do," Matt Osborne Fire Prevention Officer said.

This is the second annual Ranielle health and safety fair. Osborne said he hopes to make this a fall time community tradition.

The favorite part of the day for most of the children who stopped by was battling mock fires, just like a real fire fighter.
