    Emergency responders were called to the scene of a train accident on Monday, May 20.  A person was apparently hit by a CSX train in a remote part of Fayette County.  The call came in at around 1:30 p.m.
    The victim was apparently covering her head with a blanket to shelter from the heavy rain storms.

The West Virginia Nurses Political Action Committee recently released its endorsements for the upcoming November general election.

The WVN-PAC is a voluntary, nonprofit, non-partisan organization of nurses. The group aims to encourage nurses to become more involved in health care policy and governmental affairs by educating candidates and office holders about the issues and concerns of both nurses and their clients.

The WVN-PAC endorsements include:

  • Governor – incumbent Earl Ray Tomblin (D)
  • U.S. House of Representatives District 1 – Sue Thorn (D)
  • U.S. House of Representatives District 3 – incumbent Nick Rahall (D)
  • Auditor – incumbent Glen Gainer II (D)
  • Secretary of State – incumbent Natalie Tennant (D)
  • Supreme Court of Appeals – Letitia "Tish" Chafin (D); incumbent Robin Jean Davis (D)
