With the 2012 election just over a month away, 59 News is working for you to tell what you need to know before you hit the polls.
New, unregistered voters have until October 16th to get to their county court house to register to vote.
On election day you need to bring your voter registration card and officials are hoping for a better turnout than the may primaries.
"A lot of important races are on this ballot this year. so I look for a good early vote to follow and hopefully an improved turn out. you know we only had in Fayette and in the state only 28% of the vote for the primaries, that was very discouraging to me," Kelvin Holliday, Fayette County Clerk said.
Holliday said the county clerks office has been extremely busy taking absentee ballot applications and says this increased interest hopefully points to a larger voter turn out.
