BLUEFIELD -

Over 4,000 meatballs are simmering in sauce as sons and daughters of Italy celebrate the 18th annual Italian American festival going on right now in Bluefield.

The food and fun gets underway tonight with an Italian Buffet and dancing at the Bluefield City Auditorium near Mitchell Stadium.

If you missed this taste of Italy, the fest continues Saturday with more food, fun and free entertainment.

We wanted to know just how much work goes into making this fest possible, so we take you for an inside look at all of the hard work.

"It takes a lot of work. you got to get everyone organized. We had women here yesterday rolling I don't know how many meatball, we cook them, they roll them and pack them and than we can the sauce," Henry Formica, Volunteer said.

All the money raised through ticket sales go toward scholarship funds and other community outreach programs.
