Nearly half of children with autism wander away from the safety of people they know.

Researchers from the Interactive Autism Network sampled more than 1,200 children with autism spectrum disorders and found they are four times more likely to go missing than their unaffected siblings.

Most children are missing for an average of 41 minutes.
