Women’s XC Places 19th at Atlantic Regionals

The Concord University women's cross country team ended its season Saturday with a 19th-place finish at the 2012 NCAA Division II Atlantic Regionals held in Lock Haven, Pa.

Shippensburg won the event followed by Edinboro in second place and Indiana (Pa.) in third place. All three teams qualified for the Division II National Championships. Shippensburg Katie Spratford won the race with a time of 20:20.0

Concord was led by senior Chelsea Callaway, who placed 69th in the 171-woman field with a time of 23:08.2. Senior teammate Rachel Williams finished the race in a time of 23:56.3, placing 95th overall.

The Mountain Lions' third runner was freshman Vivian Ruiz. She ended her first collegiate season by clocking a time of 24:23.4 and finishing in 112th place.

Rounding out Concord's top-five runners were senior Micalyn Miller and sophomore Cheyenne Nicely. Miller placed 133rd with a time of 24:58.9 while Nicely posted a time of 25:18.4 to come in 138th.

Also competing for Concord were freshman Bethany Carroll (149th – 26:18.1) and junior Courtney Vannatter (156th – 26:54.8).
