BECKLEY -

West Virginia Department of Corrections officials are searching for Joseph Cody Genet.

The 26 year-old escaped overnight from the Beckley Correctional Center. Officials say Genet was not present during the midnight inmate count.

Genet is 6' 3" and weighs about 190 lbs. He has multiple tattoos along with a 3 inch surgical scar on his right forearm.

Genet's original charges stem from a burglary in Wayne County.

Anyone with information on Genet's whereabouts is asked to contact West Virginia State Police.
