A Utah man is set to be sentenced for his role in a multimillion-dollar
fraud scheme to sale property in a Hurricane subdivision at inflated prices.
Raymond Morris of South Weber, Utah,
was supposed to be sentenced in federal court in Charleston
last week but his hearing was postponed because his flight was canceled. The
hearing was rescheduled for Monday.
Morris faces up to 30 years for wire fraud and bank fraud.
He pleaded guilty to the charges in July.
Deborah Joyce of Hurricane was sentenced to nearly four
years for her role in the scheme, which cost lenders approximately $1.9
million. Michael Hurd of Salt Lake City
was sentenced to two years and three months for conspiracy to commit wire fraud
and bank fraud.
