Emergency responders were called to the scene of a train accident on Monday, May 20.  A person was apparently hit by a CSX train in a remote part of Fayette County.  The call came in at around 1:30 p.m.

Former Sheriff Gary Wheeler (D) wins against current Sheriff Edward Dolphin (R) Tuesday night.

Wheeler was prohibited from running in the previous election due to term limits.

This year, he hopes to bring back his drug program to combat prescription pill abuse.

"I was Sheriff for eight years. My drug program has not been active since that time. I want to bring it back. I have a lot of changes I want to make at the Sheriff's Department this time," said Wheeler

Wheeler won with more than 58 percent of the vote. Dolphin followed with 42 percent.
