Gov. Tomblin Encouraging People to Report Storm Damage

CHARLESTON -

Governor Earl Ray Tomblin is encouraging all West Virginians to report any structural damage their homes and/or businesses sustained during last week's storm to their local emergency management office.

In a press release sent to 13 News, Tomblin says damage reports will be submitted to FEMA as additional documentation for the governor's request for a major federal disaster declaration.

If granted, the declaration will provide both public and individual assistance. That assistance would help our counties and cities, as well as our homeowners and small business owners in the hardest hit areas recover from the storm.

In West Virginia, there were approximately 15,000 customers still without electricity as of late Thursday afternoon, and shelters remained available in the affected areas.
