BECKLEY -
Suzuki is closing down dealerships and laying off workers across the nation.

It's part of a complete retreat from the U.S. auto market.

The company's distributor filed for bankruptcy.

West Virginia Suzuki dealerships are closing their doors.

Some owners found out they'd have to lay off workers Monday night.

The president of the West Virginia Auto and Truck Dealers Association says Suzuki vehicle owners should not worry.

Ruth Lemmon said, "In October, Suzuki sold 2,023 units nationally, and in West Virginia we sold about 45% of those cars. So we've had a great market in West Virginia and we are very appreciative of our consumers and we want them to know they will be taken care of."

Suzuki will still maintain existing vehicles in the United States, including honoring warranties, parts and maintenance.
