RALEIGH COUNTY -
A court hearing today in a child abuse case in Raleigh County. Today, a motion was heard in the case involving Sabrina Smith.
Smith, faces child abuse and other charges after police removed her daughter from their home in Beckley. This happened in October 2010.
At issue in court this afternoon is whether the defense would be able to talk to the children involved in this case.
"I'm going to draft an order so it will be up to the guardian ad litem for the children to meet with his clients, his wards we call them. And determine if they want to talk to the defense lawyer and whether or not it is in the children's best interest to talk to the defense lawyer," said prosecuting attorney Kristen Keller.
Keller said the only thing left is for both sides to exchange medical expert testimony before the case can move forward.
