GREEN VALLEY -

A major FACE LIFT for the Mercer County Health Department.

After 5-years of planning and grant writing the Mercer County Health Department finally has the cash to build their new Health Department.

Health Department workers, county commissioners and members of the public gathered to celebrate by breaking ground at the site for their new location.

"It really feels great and it makes your heart fill up and it is just so great and I have been working on this long before I was elected commissioner," Mike Vinciguerra, Mercer County Commissioner said.

The building is expected to be open in October of 2013.

One of the key organizers from the Mercer County Health Department - - Melody Rickman also announced she will be retiring at the end of this year.

Officials said she was instrumental in making this plan happen.
