RALEIGH COUNTY -
Two hotels have been targeted so far this month. Receptionists were held at gunpoint for fast cash.
"There are dangers everywhere, you just have to be careful," said a man at the Travel Plaza.
Two local hotels have been robbed so far this month. The Howard Johnson Express and the Days Inn.
Intruders were locked and loaded, holding clerks at gunpoint and looking for fast cash.
But Howard Johnson General Manager Sheila Warren is not backing down.
"We are now armed on the premises at night. We are making sure, all precautions, that we are staying armed for this. Just in case it happens again," she said.
Travelers believe they know how to stay safe in a hotel...They say taking extra precautions is key.
"I put those double lock on that device that goes across the door," said one traveler.
"There are a lot of hotels that have security too. It's a good idea to stay at a place that has security,"
Howard Johnson Manager said she believes hotels are not being targeted but criminals are just taking advantage of opportunity.
"I think if you are in a business, you are targeted any where you go. If you are a doctor's office, and you have cash there, you are a target. Anywhere there's cash, you are going to be a target," Warren said.
The hotel manager says she hopes they find the robbers soon and that justice will be served.
