    Crews fought a house fire in Fayette County Saturday evening for several hours. 911 Dispatchers said the call came in of a house fire on Paint Creek Road near Pax around 6:30 p.m. Pax Fire Department and Bradley-Prosperity Fire Department responded along with several other crews. We're told no one was inside the home when the fire happened.

CHARLESTON, W. Va. (AP) -

Nearly 300 professionals who work in various fields to protect West Virginia's children from sexual and physical abuse are gathering in Charleston to learn about the latest tools and trends.

U.S. Attorney Booth Goodwin delivers opening remarks Friday at the Children's Justice Task Force Crimes Against Children Conference at the Charleston Civic Center. The event began Thursday.

The task force includes members of law enforcement and judiciary, as well as defense attorneys, prosecutors, child advocates, health and mental health professionals, child protection services workers and parent groups.

The conference offers the latest information on the investigation, treatment and resolution of child abuse cases. That includes updates on prosecution, research and medical treatment.
