Black Friday Madness

Posted: Updated:

This year marks the earliest most stores have ever been open for Black Friday. Shoppers shared their traditions.

"It's traditional. You do it every Friday. Every Black Friday. You go to Wal-Mart first, and then you come to the mall. Then you get lunch. Then you shop on. Then you go home and go to bed," said Vivian Lane of Raleigh County.

Despite long lines and people everywhere, Black Friday really is a great shopping day for deals and steals. And this year you can get that huge discount even earlier.

"Sears is opening at 8 p.m. and Belk and about twenty to thirty stores in the mall are opening at midnight. And at midnight until five the rest will be open and will all be open at 5 a.m. but everyone will be having specials during the night and its exciting, its going to be very different this year," said Crossroads Mall General Manager Kathy Housh.

Also new this year, you can find the best shopping with just a touch of your phone.

"Crossroads mall has an app. It's called the Preit. It's an app and its goes to all the Preit malls. You can pick out Crossroads. And it takes you to our website where we have all of our sales and events listed," she said.

One shopper prefers sleep over crowds.

"Black Friday to me is sleeping in and staying home and avoiding the crowds," said Brenda of Raleigh County.

Another shopper describes her one and only black Friday experience as bittersweet.

"The place was bizarre; you were running into people with buggies, accidentally. It was just really hectic. But it was really fun after it was all said and done," said Emily Chattin of Wyoming County.
