FAYETTE COUNTY -

Applications are OPEN for parents, relatives and any other adult to nominate a child to Shop with A Cop in Fayette County.

The fundraiser provides more than 100 under-privileged kids in the county - - ages 3 to 12 - - a chance to go on a $100 shopping spree with a Fayette County Cop.

Organizers said this is a good way to give back to the community and give children the opportunity to get to know the person behind the badge.

"Children are only exposed to officers in a bad way maybe, you know the officer may be called to their house or something like that and we want to shed a different light for them to see the officers in a better situation," Chief Mike Whisman, Oak Hill Police Chief said.

To nominate a child for the program call 304-719-1893.

There are still plenty of spots open so make sure to call!
