A Lewisburg man is dead after he was hit by a car Tuesday night.

A coroner said 45-year-old Billy Haney was killed while walking along Interstate 64 in southwestern Indiana as he was making his way back home to West Virginia on foot.

The Warrick County coroner said Haney of Lewisburg was killed when he was hit by a car on Nov. 27 along the highway's eastbound lanes near the town of Lynnville, Indiana.  Coroner Eddie Goff said Haney's family told him he was walking from St. Louis to Lewisburg.

Goff says Haney had relatives in St. Louis and had made the 600-mile trip before.  Police said circumstances of the crash about 20 miles north of Evansville remained under investigation.
