State officials are proposing raising various taxes, including those on cigarettes, in order to raise money to repair the damaged highways.

The Southern West Virginia Preparedness Partnership is hosting a quarterly meeting on Wednesday, December 12 and everyone is invited to join.
The partnership is a program helping to bring representatives from both public and private sectors to enhance the community's levels of readiness and resiliency.
Folks are invited to attend the meeting at 9:00 a.m. at the Raleigh County Commission on Aging. The guest speaker will be Marty Agee, the Director of Raleigh County 911 Center. She will be speaking on subjects such as the summer storm and Hurricane Sandy.
