The recent series of West Coast storms that resulted in tens of thousands of homes and businesses suffering power outages is another chilling reminder that the only protection against such occurrences is getting off the grid with solar and wind energy.
Nashville, Tenn. (PRWEB) December 08, 2012
Sometimes it seems as if Mother Nature has it in for the East Coast, including recently when Hurricane Sandy caused so much destruction and loss of life. But over the past week, Mother Nature has proven that she hasn’t forgotten about the West Coast.
A series of storms in the San Francisco area and other parts of northern California – featuring approximately 20 inches of rain in some parts and wind gusts of up to 70 mph – resulted in road closures, downed trees, flooding and power outages for tens of thousands of homes and businesses, according to the Associated Press, USA Today, weather.com and other media outlets.
Having sold its 125,000th unit last week after launching just over a year ago,
Power4Patriots wants people to know that they no longer have to depend on a vulnerable power grid. Getting off the grid by generating solar and wind power on one’s property not only saves money, but also enables those people to keep the lights on when the rest of the neighborhood goes dark.
In addition to being environmentally friendly, the Power4Patriots system is a 100 percent legal way to cut energy costs by as much as 75 percent while making a home, cabin or RV self-sufficient.
Power4Patriots is a collection of videos and manuals describing how to build solar panels, wind turbines, water heaters and solar heaters. The system includes six videos demonstrating how to build a solar panel, including choosing the right materials, finding the right site for the system and avoiding costly mistakes, as well as two instruction manuals with step-by-step, illustrated directions. It also includes four videos and two instruction manuals detailing how to build a wind turbine.
While experience in working with wood and other materials is helpful, users don’t need to be professional handymen to build these systems, and skills such as welding are not necessary. The company says that installing solar panels and a wind turbine at one’s home will cut energy costs by as much as 75 percent.
On average, the costs are under $200 to build a solar panel and under $200 to build a wind turbine. Consumers who purchase already-made solar panels and wind turbines spend three to four times that amount. The time commitment to build a solar panel ranges from two to four hours, with the first one requiring more time than subsequent panels. A wind turbine requires a handful of hours to build.
Importantly, the outside temperature doesn’t matter when it comes to benefitting from solar panels, which are energized by sunlight. Urban conditions work too because roofs, poles, fences and windowsills can be utilized.

Power4Patriots was created as a way to allow anyone to become independent of high power bills and outages. Cost-effective and uncomplicated, Power4Patriots teaches people how to build their own, environmentally friendly sources of energy.
