Negotiations continue but house speaker John Boehner says there are still serious differences between him and President Obama on how to avoid the fiscal cliff.
The White House is still demanding tax hikes on the top two percent of American earners.
President Obama's latest proposal dropped the amount of new tax revenue from $1.6 trillion to $1.4 trillion.
But Boehner says even that amount won't pass either chamber of congress.
And he still wants to know what kind of cuts the President is willing to make to entitlement programs.
