Southern WV communities get major block grants from the state

Gov. Earl Ray Tomblin (D-W.Va.) announced the communities in West Virginia that would be receiving Small Cities Block Grants.  A pair of those came to cities in Summers and Wyoming Counties.

The Summers County Commission received $200,000 from the state.  They will use the money to go toward a $2.3 Million project.  Summers County is working to extend sewer service to residents of the Meadow Creek area.  That will affect around 73 households.

In Wyoming County, the city of Mullens received twice that amount.  Their grant was for $400,000 and also goes toward a water project.  Mullens is working on a $9.8 Million project to extend water service to 194 households.  Those homes are in the Otsego, Pierpoint and Maben areas.
