The University of Charleston will soon have a home in the city of Beckley as it takes over the campus of Mountain State University.

UC President Doctor Ed Welch met with city leaders in Beckley on Thursday, Dec. 13 at the Beckley-Raleigh County Chamber of Commerce meeting.

He said his school and Mountain State University worked closely together and he is very happy to soon call Beckley part of their new home.

"We also now have a master agreement that covers the university's leasing space from Mountain State, and of course we have announced that we have now permission from the Higher Learning Commission to come Beckley and teach courses and offer our program," said Dr. Welch.

He says the meeting was a great opportunity for the leaders of Beckley to pick his brain for what his plans are and how UC-Beckley can connect and serve the city.
